Wine of the Week: Dopff & Iron Crémant d’Alsace Brut Rosé NV
June 18, 2018
This sparkling rosé—ideal for everyday drinking—comes from one of Alsace’s oldest producers, with roots in the region since 1574.
Using the traditional method using second fermentation in the bottle, the wine is made of 100% Pinot Noir and is classically salmon colored with citrus and spice notes on the nose. Lively mousse (bubbles) on the palate gives way to grapefruit, and tart red fruits such as raspberries, wild strawberry and cranberry. The acid cleans the palate, allowing the subtle mineral notes to shine through.
